Vista Experience
You just can't install Vista, use it for a few minutes, and decide it's garbage. It takes using Vista for a while to really appreciate and see the improvements. Anyhow, I know I will end up installing it sometime and ultimately I'll convert <G>, but for now I just wanted to tell about my skepticism.

I do not tell that it does not work, well except for parts with soundcard and installation thing when it would hang without any report (that makes for great first time user experience). First, even if that's all it was, I personally use my computer all the time and welcome anything that looks a little nicer.

512 is marginal for Vista. Based on my experience XP uses a native RAM footprint of 225-260. Vista uses well over 540 sometimes up to 620. During the first few days of use it will be higher I've already touched various laptops that came with Vista Home Premium install with 512MB and they where all fine as well.
